About me

I’m Maria Galloway from Los Angeles, Ca. My artistic journey is a manifestation of my affection for nature and my adventures across various landscapes.

My portfolio is a collection of diverse creations, each born from a spark of inspiration. Whether it be the strokes of tiny watercolor sketches that document my journeys, the bold acrylic renditions of landscapes that capture nature, or the delicate oil paintings depicting bunnies and birds, my work reflects the harmony I find in the world around me.

Art has been my constant companion, a lifelong passion that has woven its way through my existence. My artistic journey has been nurtured by studies, including the pursuit of Studio Art at San Diego State University, Ceramics at California State University, Northridge, and Figurative Art at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art. My curiosity and commitment led me even further, delving into the realm of Social Emotional Art Therapy at UCLArts & Healing, where I discovered the profound interplay between art and emotional well-being.

In 2011, I co-founded the Los Angeles Art School, Viridian Art Academy, a nurturing space for aspiring artists to learn, grow, and flourish. This endeavor reflects my commitment to fostering artistic growth and nurturing the creative spirit within our community. In 2015, I embarked on yet another venture, founding the widely acclaimed blog for art educators, "Art Teacher in LA," a platform dedicated to sharing insights, ideas, and inspiration for fellow art teachers.

As I continue to paint, create, and inspire, I invite you to join me on this artistic odyssey. Through my work, I hope to evoke the same sense of wonder and connection to the natural world that fuels my own creative journey.
